Each different type of visa or immigration benefit takes a certain time to process and for each one, USCIS has specific processing goals. For example, naturalization cases are usually processed within 5 months of the date USCIS received them and immediate relative petitions (for the spouse, parent or minor child of a U.S. citizen) within 6 months of the receipt date.

Each month USCIS publishes a table you can use to determine how long an application or petition takes to process at a particular office. If you have already filed an application or petition, you can get an idea of how much longer it will take to process your case.
